The pure white flowers in summer contrast nicely with the rich green foliage and give way to the intense blue fruit in the fall. An excellent compact shrub variety of the native American Arrowwood Viburnum family.
Blue Muffin® Viburnum Garden Uses and Care:
This Arrowwood Viburnum variety is easy to grow and requires little maintenance in the garden. It prefers well-drained soil but will adapt to a wide range of soil types, and readily accepts alkaline soil, heavy soil and harsh climates. Fruit production is increased dramatically by growing with another Viburnum dentatum cultivar like 'Autumn Jazz' or 'Chicago Lustre', or by the presence of the native species. This tough shrub attracts songbirds and wildlife, and can be used for property-edge screening, wildlife plantings, parking lot plantings, as a specimen summer-flowering shrub in the mixed perennial/shrub border, in deer resistant gardens, and in a container planting for the first few years. Can easily be maintained at a smaller size by pruning immediately after blooming. Blue Muffin® Viburnum blooms from buds set the previous year, so do not prune in the spring to avoid losing this years blooms.
